    Reflex exhibition next weekend

    The Reflex Photographic Club will be holding it’s yearly exhibition at the Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, Hempstead Valley, Gillingham this this week. The exhibition will be starting at 9am on Thursday 10th July and will finish at 3PM on Sunday 13th July 2014. The exhibition will have a number of prints on display and the public will be asked to vote for their favourite image. One lucky voter will be selected at random and will win an original print from the exhibition.     2014-15 Programme updated

    The 2014-15 programme is now updated. Don’t forget to keep returning to the current programme page where updates will be available. Note, there is a change to the programme this year with the introduction a new  “Super League” series of competitions. This series of 4 competitions will replace the print league. The new league will consist of 2 print and 2 digital rounds and will give members the chance to show their versatility in both media. We also have a number of lectures and workshops booked over the season including a workshop on “how to use a studio flash”.

    Reflex Photographic Club have moved

    Please be aware that we will be meeting at Rainham School for Girls for the 2014-15 season. Our new meeting place is the Netball Centre, Rainham School for Girls, Derwent Way, Gillingham, Kent ME8 0BX. You can find more details including directions and a map on our Where we meet page. We are also changing days to a Thursday evening for club meetings. The revised programme for the 2014-15 season can be seen on the Current programme page.

    Clash of the Titans and Season End

    Congratulations to Ignatius Mauceri for his winning entry in the annual Clash of the Titans competition – REFLECTION IN A TEASPOON. Well done to the runners up, and indeed all club members who gained an entry into the competition. The Annual General Meeting has also taken place (4 June), so the season is at an end. Keep an eye on the website for information on next season’s programme and any other developments during the summer break.

    New programme for the 2013-14 season

    The final meeting of the 2012-13 season has now taken place. We all look forward to the new season starting Thursday 5 September. This opening night will be dedicated for new members. For the rest of next season’s programme, see our Current Programme page.

    The programme of events for the 2012-13 season is now available on the Current Programme page. We hope you will agree that we have a good selection of activities planned for the coming year including lectures, a workshop evening and a range of digital projection and print competitions. Members please note the set subjects for the Vic Cassar Cup (Transport) and the Medway Cup (Water).

    Working with sRGB colour space

    Just a short note to remind members to use the sRGB colour space when submitting images for digital projection. A colour space is designed to allow you to edit images in a controlled, consistent manner. They simply describe the range of colours (or gamut) that a camera can see, a printer can print, or a monitor/projector can display. The colour space used by the club projector is sRGB as stated in the competition rules on page 10 of the club handbook. So if you submit an image with a wider colour space (eg Adobe RGB), you stand a chance of the brighter colours in your image appearing blocked/washed out. You…
