• Summer Outing

    Broadstairs rescheduled for Sunday 27th August 2023

    We have reschedued one of our summer outings to the 27th August where we will be off to broadstairs. There are 14 seats available so please let Maureen or myself know asap. We will look to fill the places with club members first and if there are seats left we can offer these to partners so we ensure we have a full bus as its always better to have more people for the singsong. There are more outings planned and we will have details very soon.

    Club Outing 30th July 2023 to Broadstairs

    We’;re off to see the delights of Broadstairs, take some photos, enjoy the sea air, probably eat and drink too much and to generally have a great day. Numbers are limited to 16 and we have a minibus orgnaised so we just need numbers and we can organise pick up points etc. Please let either Maureen or mysel know by the 20th so we can finalise arrangements. More days out are being arranged so watch this spot.

    Opening Night

    It was great to get back into the Club room and talk photography again. The Club had continued it’s programme over the summer break with member outings and summer challenges but it was good to meet face to face in a relaxed environment for a coffee/tea and a chat.

    Vic Cassar Cup DLR3 Pat Couder 2021 – 2022

    A fantastic evening last night, Pat Couder CPAGB BPE1* QPSA was our judge tonight giving her constructive comments on our entries for the Vic Cassar Cup, Pat made the whole evening light and very enjoyable, this was her first visit to our club as a judge and will be coming back to give us their lecture titled P.I.M.S. which stands for The Pat Ian and Mike Show which I for one won’t be missing.     Starting from a blank canvas What a wonderful presentation by Polina! Starting from a blank canvas Polina took us through her sources of inspiration for flower photography in her art background and how she then translates this into stunning home studio images. It was interesting that Polina says she endeavours to make portraits of flowers rather than botanical studies, using a similar lighting set up as would be used for portrait photography. Seeking to portray narrative through a series of images rather than produce single images, Polina nevertheless showed us stunning images every one of which I would class as one that could stand alone.     A very good Evening with Judge Kevin Bell “LRPS” he was given a hard task with the amount of good images to choose from and he gave constructive comments on the images, this was an unusual evening when he came to marking as. Kevin wanted to also have 3 Commended images along with the normal 1st, 2nd, 3rd. & 2 Highly Commended.     The competition was judged by Cherry Larcombe EFIAP, ARPS DPAGB, BPE3* & there were quality images entered, Cherry’s comments were excellent and pointed out where some images could be improved, Cherry decided to have 3 Highly commended due to the quality.     We have now uploaded a few “How To” short video’s on to the “Member’s page” so you will need to use your “Password” , these are straight to the point none of that Blah Blah Blah where you sitting there thinking “get to the point” Trevor is hoping to add more to “How To’s”so if you have any ideas please let us know.
