Contgratulations to Bert Gilchrist ARPS CPAGB

Many congratulations to club member Bert Gilchrist who has obtained an ARPS in nature photography.

What is an ARPS you say? Is is an Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society – a unique UK based society that is open to everyone to join (from the UK or worldwide). Its aim is to promote the art and science of photography, and it is an educational charity.

The Associateship is the second level of the society’s distinctions (only a Fellowship is higher). The first level (Licentiateship) looks for basic competence and skill. However, to be successful at Associateship level, candidates need to demonstrate a high standard of technical competence as well as provide evidence of creative ability and the development of personal style. You also need to be able to show that you are in complete control of technical aspects which allows you to produce quality which entirely suits the subject.
