    Marrutt printing evening.

Last night at the Reflex Photographic Club was a true “print fest”. We had a superb evening courtesy of John Read from Marrutt, a professional inkjet and paper company based in East Sussex. John started the evening with a brief description of Marrutt’s history from cabinet making, darkroom equipment and finally to the professional inkjet inks and papers that are the mainstay of the companies trade. This was followed by an informative session on “darkroom style” printing from an inkjet printer. John finished off with a demonstration of the new Pro Photomount system for displaying prints and a Question and Answer session. The evening was further enhanced by the sale of discounted…

    Ronald Packman

It is with deepest regret that I have to inform you that one of our long standing members, Ronald (Ron) Packman, sadly passed away early Monday morning.   Despite a long standing illness Ron was a frequent and very active member of the Reflex Photographic Club and was the “go to” person for help with photographic prints, both darkroom and digital.   I will keep you informed of the date for Ron’s funeral for those who wish to pay their respects. I am sure all pour thoughts go out to Ron’s family at this difficult time.

    JPEG vs RAW evening.

Last night was the 2nd Reflex meeting of  the season. We were very grateful to John Walsh for presenting a lecture entitled “JPEG vs RAW”. The lecture was very informative, even to those members who had some prior knowledge of the RAW process. There was a short introduction to the benefits or otherwise of each image format and some practical demonstrations of some of the powerful tools available to RAW users. There was even a section on Black and White conversion in RAW which could prove very useful to members wishing to enter the John Amey Print competition in a months time (theme – Black and White). Looking forward to…

Last Thursday 3rd September saw the 1st evening of the new Reflex Season. The year started off well with an explanation of the recent rule changes as well as a brief overview of the club’s programme for the year. This was followed by a print mounting demonstration by Vic Cassar – which proved very useful to members wishing to start print competitions. There was one issue raised:- it appears that a number of members are not receiving Reflex information by email. Could all current members please check that their email programmes are accepting emails form our email address. Please ensure that you are including your email address with your membership…

    Pocahontas boat trip CANCELLED

Unfortunately I had a phone call yesterday regarding our planned trip on the MV Pocahontas. The company who own the ship have had to cancel our trip on 20th June as they do not have enough passengers to make the trip viable. They have suggested that we could re-book for 27th June instead – please let me now if you would be able to attend on this new date ASAP by emailing the club at the usual address.. I will then make a decision as to whether to change the date or just cancel until later in the year. I am very sorry to have to cancel at such short…
