    Happy New Year to all

    We would like to wish all Reflex Photographic Club members (and all visitors to our website) a very happy and prosperous New Year. Don’t forget the first meeting of the year is on 5th January – a lecture by Tony Mitchell – “Improve Your Image”. (It’s also the entry date for the John Amey Cup – so remember to take along your images if you want to enter.)

    2011-12 season underway

    Reflex Photographic Club welcomes you to the new season. We are off to a flying start with a very interesting lecture on local wildlife by Jodie Randall and the first competition of the year – the Reflex Cup (digital images), judged by Colin Brownett. If you want to know what is happening at the rest of the meetings this season, take a look at our Current Programme page. We look forward to seeing you on a club evening.

    2011-12 Season Programme

    The programme of events for the 2011-12 season is now available on the Current Programme page. We hope you will agree that we have a good selection of activities planned for the coming year including lectures, a workshop evening and a range of digital projection and print competitions. Members please note the set subjects for the Vic Cassar Cup (Chimneys) and the Medway Cup (Something old).

    Welcome to our new members

    Welcome to all the new members who have joined us as a result of our recent exhibition at Hempstead Valley shopping centre. The event, which took place between 12 and 15 May saw a lot of interest in the club and photography generally. Thank you to all the members who displayed their images and helped to provide cover on the stand over the period.

    Contgratulations to Bert Gilchrist ARPS CPAGB

    Many congratulations to club member Bert Gilchrist who has obtained an ARPS in nature photography. What is an ARPS you say? Is is an Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society – a unique UK based society that is open to everyone to join (from the UK or worldwide). Its aim is to promote the art and science of photography, and it is an educational charity. The Associateship is the second level of the society’s distinctions (only a Fellowship is higher). The first level (Licentiateship) looks for basic competence and skill. However, to be successful at Associateship level, candidates need to demonstrate a high standard of technical competence as well as…

    As promised, we have now added a gallery of photographs taken by some of our members. To access it you can use the ‘Member galleries’ link in the main menu above. Take a look now and come back soon – more members will be adding some of their favourite images to the site in the near future. Note to members: If you do want to add some images to your own gallery, please email them (1024×768 format) to Gary Pritchard or see him on a club night with a CD or Flash memory stick containing the images.

    Invicta Cup to run on 3 March

    Change of event At the Reflex Committee Meeting held on Monday  24 January, it was agreed that the Portrait Workshop due on 3 March (not 5 March as stated in the hand book) would be replaced by the Invicta Cup.  This was the competition that was cancelled because of snow on 2 December.  The judge will be Keith Evans FRPS DPAGB.

    Coming soon

    Hi there. Just to let you know that we will have a couple of additions to the site in the near future. Firstly, we will be adding the images of the first, second and third place winners of each club competition. We will also provide a list of all entries and the marks obtained. Secondly, we will be adding a club member gallery to the website. So if you would like to show some of your work here, let us have some images that you would like posted on the site (6-12 images would be ideal). Prepare them as if they were going in for digital projection – 1024×768 pixels…

    A happy new year to members of the Reflex Photographic Club and all our site visitors. For those that have been here before, you will notice a new website for a new year. We will be keeping the site up to date with the latest news, competion results and general goings on from Reflex.
